Abstract

Micro Hydro Power Plant can be a solution to overcome the limitations in meeting the electricity needs for remote areas. To meet these needs has been carried out the design, manufacture and installation of Micro Hydro Power Plant in the village of Palasari, Bogor. The turbine is designed to the specifications able to generate power of 2,700 watts at a turbine wheel (n) = 214 rpm, with an effective height of water (He) = 2 m and flow rates (Q) = 0.2 m3 / s. To determine the performance of turbine performance testing has been done at the installation site. The performance is meant in this activity is the efficiency of the turbine (ƞt), which is the ratio between the output of the turbine and the input mechanical energy in the form of potential energy and kinetic liquid in this case water. Testing is done by measuring the water discharge and turbine power measurement, and then calculated the efficiency of the turbine. The dam technique used to measure the flow rate. Turbine power (Nt) is determined by measuring the torque (T) and rotation (n) to the shaft. The variations in water flow can obtain by controlling the gateway at the inlet. The results show that level of Head (H) = 2 m and the gateway opened 100%, water flow rate (Q) = 0.20 m3/s, turbine power (Nt) = 2856.14 Watts and rotation (n) = 1356.97 rpm, the turbine efficiency (ηt) is = 72.95%.
