SIMULATION AND ANALYSIS OF RECEIVE SIGNAL LEVEL (RSL) ON THE OPENBTS NETWORK USING UNIVERSAL SOFTWARE RADIO PERIPHERAL (USRP)
Abstract
OpenBTS is the application of BTS (Base Transceiver Station) which runs on linux platform and an open software. OpenBTS uses a hardware device called USRP (Universal Software Radio Peripheral). OpenBTS is what connects devices with a standard mobile phone networks (GSM). OpenBTS GSM operator replace traditional infrastructure, from the Base Transceiver Station (BTS) to end main components. The traffic is usually forwarded to the Mobile Switching Center (MSC), the OpenBTS traffic terminated in the same box by transmitting the data to the Asterisk PBX through SIP and Voice-over-IP (VoIP).This final project will be carried out simulation test call and SMS. Next on OpenBTS will take measurements and calculation of signal strength / receive signal level (RSL). Of measurements and calculations will be compared and then analyzed. In the table the value of standardization RSL on GSM communications system that the signal quality is considered very good value in the range -75 dBm to 0. So that it will try to compare the OpenBTS network by manually taking measurements and theoretical calculation formula. Keywords: OpenBTS, USRP, Asterisk, RSL, Propagation
