Abstract

In the uncertain climate change era, the construction sector is slowly shifting towards a more sustainable and environmentally friendly direction. One of the major breakthroughs supporting this transformation is the development of environmentally friendly construction materials by utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) technology. This article will investigate the key role of AI in driving the construction industry towards the use of more sustainable materials. The use of conventional construction materials often has negative impacts on the environment, such as high carbon emissions and depletion of natural resources. In this context, AI technology plays an important role in the development of new, more environmentally friendly construction materials. AI can be used to analyze complex data that includes factors such as energy efficiency, carbon impact, and material sustainability. Artificial intelligence can replace many jobs that are threatened by humans, including one of them is the profession of architects. Therefore, the role of AI and its impact on the work of architects, and how AI can help and collaborate with architects are studied in this study. This study uses a descriptive approach that combines literature studies and case studies to describe current phenomena, especially the use of AI in architectural planning and design and its contribution to optimizing the development of environmentally friendly construction materials. The study shows that AI can make the architectural planning and design process more efficient and innovative. However, AI cannot replace the role of architects as a whole because architecture requires human expertise and the ability to think creatively and innovatively.Keywords: Architecture, AI, Construction, Materials, Environment
