STUDY OF APPLICATION OF ORNAMENTS AS LOCAL CHARACTER AND CULTURE IN BUILDING CASE STUDY: WATER TOURISM AREA AT PASIR KENCANA BEACH, PEKALONGAN CITY

Abstract

Regional tourism development aims to unlock the potential of the region from nature, socio-culture or economy in order to contribute to local government and improve regional welfare. The city of Pekalongan which is included in the Central Java region seeks to explore its local potential and character as an image and become the strength of this area, namely a culture that has a uniqueness. The value of local character and culture can be developed in the design of the Pasir Kencana-Pekalongan Beach Water Tourism attraction. The application of local character and culture in the design of the tourist attraction will be able to increase the value of the object. design of water tourism in the tourist area of ​​Pasir Kencana Beach, Wonokerto. This study aims to identify the character and local culture studied to be applied in the design of buildings and spaces. Furthermore, it will be able to analyze the application of this culture in the design of tourist objects. This research uses descriptive method to describe the data and analysis in the form of qualitative data. The qualitative data were analyzed interpretively. The results show that local cultural values ​​can be the basis for design inspiration and implementation, both on the site, building and space. The symbolic meaning of architectural elements such as decorative meanings can increase the attractiveness of visiting tourists.
